Project at a glance

The story

Millbank Academy approached SBB Group with a clear brief: refresh the interior of the school to a high standard, on a fixed timeline that fit neatly inside the summer break. With pupils and staff returning at the start of the new term, there was no room for slippage.

The building had seen years of heavy daily use, and the wear was starting to show. Scuffed walls, tired flooring, and dated finishes were holding the space back. We mobilised a full team on day one of the holidays, coordinating every trade in sequence so the work flowed without conflict.

Painting & decorating

Every classroom, corridor, and shared space was fully repainted using durable, low-VOC paint systems suitable for a school environment. Walls were repaired, filled, and sanded before any paint was applied — proper preparation for a finish that lasts under daily use.

Kitchen area

The staff kitchen was stripped back and fully refurbished — new units, worktops, splashback, and fresh decoration. A functional, clean space for staff to use throughout the school day.

Bathroom & washrooms

Washrooms across both floors were updated — new fixtures, fresh tiling, and improved ventilation. Clean, hygienic, and built to handle the volume of a busy school.

Door refurbishment

All internal doors were refurbished or replaced — sanded, repainted, and fitted with new ironmongery. Fire doors were checked and brought up to compliance standards.

The outcome

The school reopened on the first day of term to a refreshed, brighter, and more welcoming interior. Every classroom and corridor in scope was handed over fully cleaned, snagged, and ready for use. The project was delivered on time, on budget, and to the standard the school expected.
